The Hudson Employment Index(SM) gained nearly four points in November, climbing from 101.4 in October to 105.3. Improved hiring expectations and greater optimism regarding personal finances caused the measure of worker confidence to record its strongest reading since April.

Most Managers Contact Office During Vacation Time
When they do get away from work, 39 percent of employees check in with the office most days, if not every day. Add in those who call the office or check email occasionally and a resounding 72 percent of the work force stays in touch with the office to some extent when they are supposed to be winding down.

Sixty-two percent (62%) of Americans will be decorating a Christmas tree this year. A Rasmussen Reports survey finds that 22% say they’ll skip this holiday tradition while 16% are not sure. Younger adults are more like than their elders to decorate—71% of those ages 18-29 say they’ll decorate a tree, a percentage that falls to 47% for those ages 65 and older. More...

Perhaps the stress is induced because the growing trend of political correctness runs against the tide of popular opinion. Sixty-nine percent (69%) of Americans prefer stores to use the phrase “Merry Christmas” in their seasonal advertising rather than the generic “Happy Holidays.” More...
When U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez assumes the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee in January, he’ll do so as a political figure who is largely unknown by the general American voting public. Fifty-one percent (51%) of America’s voters don’t know enough to give an opinion of the first-term lawmaker.
Overall, 25% view Martinez favorably and 24% view him unfavorably. However, even these numbers are a bit soft—just 7% have a “very” favorable opinion while 9% give him a “very” unfavorable review.Read More...
